| Based on a book by Susan Hill, this British TV movie makes an utterly captivating ghost story.
A solicitor (Rawlins) is sent to finalize the affairs of a recently deceased woman and her isolated estate.
But he begins to be plagued by random appearances of a woman dressed all in black...the disembodied voice of a child...and terror-filled screams on the marsh waters.
Will he piece together all the puzzling clues and find the answers? Or is he already prey of something truly evil?
Highly atmospheric, with a powerful performance by Rawlins and a smack-in-your-face ending to rival the best of the downbeat films of the 1970s.
 Highly recommended.
