Exceptional John Carpenter TV thriller.
Live television director Leigh Michaels (Hutton) relocates from New York to Los Angeles, and takes an apartment in a luxury high rise complex.
A new city, new digs, all the latest modern conveniences...Leigh is all set to begin enjoying her new life.
But before long, she starts to be tormented by mysterious phone calls from an unseen assailant. Then she starts to receive strange packages.
Clearly, someone is keeping tabs on her. But is her stalker somehow able to see Leigh's every move? And why? What does he want?
Good suspense vehicle from Carpenter, contains obvious nods to the influences of Hitchcock - most notably his Rear Window (1954) and Dial M for Murder (1954).
Add in some stylish direction from Carpenter, some intelligent dialogue, believable performances from lead Hutton, and Barbeau as her supportive friend and co-worker...And you've got a real winner.
Also known as High Rise.
A must see.
