Seven Bloodstained Orchids (1972)
95 min.
Directed by Umberto Lenzi.
With Antonio Sabato, Marisa Mell, Uschi Glas, Pier Paolo Capponi, Petra Schürmann, Claudio Gora, Franco Fantasia, Rossella Falk.
Based on the Edgar Wallace novel Das Ratsel Des Silbernen Halbmonds, this is a top notch giallo directed by Umberto Lenzi.

Women begin to be murdered by a savage killer. Each one of the victims is found with an odd moon-shaped locket clasped in their hand.

After one of the would-be victims recognizes the strange locket, she begins to piece clues together based on the events of a single day several years in the past.

Could there be a pattern linking all the women murdered to date? And if so, who is next on the list?

This fantastic effort from Lenzi is perfectly spiced with saucy murder sequences that keep the story-driven giallo moving along.

Notable highlights include a death framed among paint (beautiful!) and a gouging by electric power drill.

The poolside climax/revelation is also a good capper.

Great score by Riz Ortolani.

Also known as Puzzle of the Silver Half Moons and Seven Orchids Stained in Red.

Italian: Sette orchidee macchiate di rosso.
