A well done Hammer original.
A village in England is perplexed by a series of bizarre deaths. Could it be some kind of black plague?
Or could it have something to do with the eccentric recluse Dr. Franklyn (Willman) and his mysterious daughter Anna (Pearce)?
The Franklyn's amiable new neighbors, Harry and his wife Valerie (Barrett, Daniel), are about to find out.
And the truth may be more shocking than they can handle!
Shades of Kurt Neumann's The Fly (1958) here‚ and another stellar production from Hammer Films.
Jacqueline Pearce is very good as the ill-fated girl. A fine actress, she would go on to star in the British sci-fi cult favorite Blake's 7 in the late 70s.
Shot at the same time as director Gilling's undead horror Plague of the Zombies (1966), using many of the same set pieces.
