Too little too late.
We wish we could blame someone else for this mess, but Don Coscarelli - the original film's director - returned to helm this disappointing sequel.
Lacking the thrills and chills of Phantasm, this one has a grown up Mike developing a psychic link with a girl (Samantha Phillips) and still fighting the Tall Man and his dwarfs.
In typical late 80s fashion, there's a bit too much "let's go kick some dwarf butt" in this one. The unfamiliar and bizarre has become commonplace and dull.
The best thing is the return of Reggie Bannister and Angus Scrimm, reprising their roles and reminding us of the oiriginal, far superior film.
One question...who would have guessed that goofy, nerdy slight Mike would have grown up to be a buff model-looking dude? Only in Weak Sequel Land...
