Night Terror (1977)
89 min.
Directed by E.W. Swackhamer.
With Valerie Harper, Richard Romanus, Nicholas Pryor, John Quade, Michael Tolan, Beatrice Manley, Quinn Cummings, Damon Bradley Raskin.
Strong, memorable TV thriller.

Carol Turner (Harper) is on a night drive through the desert from Phoenix to Denver en route to meet her family when she accidently witnesses the savage murder of a highway patrolman.

An unwilling eyewitness, she's then pursued relentlessly by the cold blooded killer (Romanus), who hopes to silence her at any cost.

Forced to utilize her own ingenuity, quick thinking skills and inner strength, Carol discovers she's not ready to die yet! She wants to live!

The mood here is heavily influenced by the near-total night settings.

Night Terror is mainly a two character piece - and an exceptional one at that - which relies on Harper's performance as the suburban housewife/mother who rises to the challenge of being stalked prey...and who emerges as survivor.

Riveting from beginning to end.

Director Swackhamer did a number of other television thrillers and horrors including Death at Love House (1976) and The Death of Ocean View Park (1979).

Fans of Harper would also do well by her other telethriller Don't Go To Sleep (1982).
