This enjoyable late '80s slasher seems to have somehow siphoned itself to the energies of its earlier '80s predecessors. That's a good thing.

The likable cast works in a supermarket which happens to be on the verge of closeout, after having been sold by its owner.

The action takes place during the night, as the cashiers and stockboys are preparing everything for 'final sales.'

Amidst this simple and fairly believable setting comes a killer ready to do a little private grocery shopping at midnight. And he'll pay for his items with the spilled blood of the market's night crew!

Is the maniac the disgruntled ex-boyfriend of the head cashier?

Is it the angry, unwilling-to-sell co-owner of the market?

Is it merely a random stranger?

Surprisingly good. So seek out and watch this nice, unpretentious slasher (with good special effects). But beware of prints which omit some fun gore. Look for Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, the latter in a tiny bit role.

Also known as Night Crew: The Final Checkout.
