Interesting (if repugnant) premise is given watchable life by director Hough (1971's Twins of Evil and 1973's Legend of Hell House) in this early '80s 'beast' effort.
Someone is savagely attacking and raping the women of the small town of Galen.
Dr. Cordell (Cassavetes) must find the answers behind the atrocities lest they continue...But could it be more than just a random psycho killer at work here? Could there be a supernatural bent to the crimes?
Cassavetes and Ireland deliver acceptable performances, but director Hough's pendulous, damp mood is the real creative force here and it enhances the offbeat material.
There's a few good murder sequences punctuated by decent acting from the cast, while an enjoyable twist ending tops off the action.
