An offbeat Italian thriller.
Franca (Romand) and her husband Antonio decide to sell an oversized yellow rug given to them as a wedding gift.
An eccentric middle aged man stops in to buy the carpet and soon reveals himself as a deranged madman.
Distraught, Franca stabs the psycho to death and hopes her nightmare is at an end.
But it's only just beginning...oh, what tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deceive!
This strange suspense horror pays a sort of homage to classic Hitchcock mysteries (1954's Dial M for Murder springs to mind), but it's all executed with a uniquely Italian flavor that giallo-friendly fans will appreciate.
Romand does nicely as the terrorized heroine, while Josephson and his female cohort pitch the film's best twist and turns.
Topped by a surprise ending. Not for all tastes, but nevertheless worth seeking out.
Italian: La Casa del tappeto giallo.
