Spanish zombie/vampire horror also known as Espanto surge de la tumba.
The 16th century: an evil knight is decapitated for his crimes and is soon joined in death by his transgressive mistress.
Flash forward centuries later: the head of the maniacal sorcerer is unearthed and soon a family descendant (Naschy) and his friends are lured into a deadly web of slaughter.
Seems the spirit of the diabolical dead one wants his head and body rejoined after all these years...and nothing seems capable of thwarting his ancient plans for bloody revenge.
Naschy is good in his double duty stint here (playing both the mad warlock and his hapless relative Hugo); gory highlights include a vicious heart ripping, several neck slashings, an odd garrotting or two.
Not to mention the enjoyable ending which caps this fun midnite corker.
See also Panic Beats (1983) for Naschy's followup to the Marnac legend.
