Owing greatly in plot to 1975's straight terror tale Massacre at Central High, this black comedy-cum-horror cult fave follows four snobbish girlfriends in high school and documents their oppression of the "lower social classes."
When one of the girls (Ryder) decides she no longer has the required cruelty resident within her, she enlists the aid of a wayfaring loner rebel (Slater) to help her out of this web of elitism.
But this new associate may prove too much of a loose cannon for her. As things spiral downward, can she stop the impending madness and tragedy?
Staged "suicides," bombs, gay love and an intense focus on current fashion all figure prominently.
