Don't be fooled by any resemblance in theme or plot to The Omen (1976).
This quiet little low budget English film is an exercise in extreme subtlety.
Befriended by a kind, well-meaning couple (Hayman, Stoddardd), a mysterious pregnant woman (played by Donald Pleasence's daughter Angela) has her baby in their house and then disappears, leaving her infant girl behind.
The innocent couple (with three children of their own) lovingly take the abandoned baby girl in with them, name her 'Bonnie' and move on with their lives.
Only, they find in time that their three children begin to meet sad, untimely deaths.
Are these unfortunate incidents merely accidents, or is it possible that their fourth child - their supposed 'Godsend' - may be a merciless little killer?
A wonderfully slowmoving film adaptation of the novel by Bernard Taylor.
Great tagline: "If Bonnie is a gift from Heaven...for God's sake take her back..!"
