"The body count continues..."
A rock hard sequel to the original hit Friday the 13th (1980).
It's five years later and a group of youth counselors decide to open a camp next to the old Camp Crystal Lake. Since Jason drowned, and his mother beheaded, there's nothing left to fear, right?
Little do they know, the bloody hijinx has just begun...
Alive all this time, backwoods killer Jason begins to knock off the unaware camp counselors one by one in an effort to avenge the death of his mother.
But can child psychology major Ginny (Steel) match wits the savage Jason, and live to tell the tale?
A memorable opener gives way to a nicely-paced sophomore effort here, buoyed almost wholly by strong lead Steel as Ginny, the slightly tomboyish counselor who fights to survive the terror...
There's solid direction from Steve Miner (one of the associate producers from the first film), and a super terrifying, well done climax.
With Part 2, the apotheosis of Jason begins as he makes his way to being one of the leading horror icons of the last three decades.
A worthy early addition to the Friday the 13th series.
