One word for this: DULL.
The town of Devonsville is made to pay for an inquisition of three witches by its ancestors.
Swedish director Ulli Lommel, who's also responsible for the equally lackluster and overrated The Boogeyman (1980) just never seems able to tell a story compellingly.
It doesn't seem as if he has a grasp of the genre and isn't helped by a cast that looks as though they couldn't care less.
Just for laughs, check out the hairdos in the flashbacks to the witches' executions. They look so...1983. Now mind you, we're not attacking the fashions of 1983, but rather Lommel's utter disregard for historical accuracy. So much for realism!
Note: one more horror film with Donald Pleasence standing around doing nothing...and we'll go ballistic.
