Originally shown in two parts, this pretty decent TV movie is about a family that moves from the big city to a small New England community where the women rule the roost...and where they sacrifice a human male once a year in order to guarantee a healthy crop season.
Part Stepford Wives, with a dash of Children of the Corn and Race With the Devil, this one starts off slow but picks up momentum by the second half.
Some good twists and effective developments, including one that was shocking to us when we were kids and this first aired: a character who finds out too much has his tongue cut out.
Bette Davis is watchable as always, even when she's hamming it up and chewing the scenery!
