Acceptable late '80s horror seizes on a clever premise but never really takes it to full fruition.
Three escaped mental cases slaughter three traveling circus clowns and assume their identities.
But after three young boys uncover the truth about the madmen, the innocent boys retreat home...only to find that the visiting psychos won't let them off that easily...
Clownhouse is a harmless enterprise, sometimes rewarding, certainly not as frightening as it could have been. Nevertheless, an inoffensive venture worth a late nite viewing.
