Fulci's sassy sequel to his original Zombi (1979) is a surprisingly solid piece of work.
This one details the story of a Dunwich priest who inexplicably commits suicide and opens the gates of hell. Ain't it always the case?
Meanwhile, in New York, a group of psychics intuit the opening of these gates can only mean an oncoming horde of walking dead.
Reporter Christopher George and one of these psychics rush to Dunwich to investigate.
Scenes of the undead "brain scrunching" their living victims (owwwch!), tears of blood, and an awesome "buried alive scene" highlight this one.
Unfortunately the original U.S. release print was severely cut, leaving apparently less gore and a plot that is more than difficult to follow.
Also known as Gates of Hell.
Italian title: Paura nella Citta de Morti Viviente.
