Surprisingly clever Spanish horror film about an audience inside a movie theatre that becomes captivated by the film they're watching.
As they view The Mommy (a creepy tale about a serial killer who cuts out people's eyes for his over-protective mother), a real killer enters the theatre and begins a murder spree. THEN, the killer on screen enters a theatre and does the same thing.
At that point, you're reeling from the plot multi-layers - and marvelling at the success of director/writer Bigas Luna at making it all work.
We were drawn in after a shaky start with Zelda Poltergeist Rubinstein's overpowering performance in the film within the film. (What the diminutive star lacks in size, she makes up for in personality.)
Buckle up and prepare for a riveting roller coaster ride with this one!
